Portland Union Station Information
North of downtown Portland, the station is located in a triangle between NW Irving and NW Broadway Streets and NW Naito Parkway. It is part of Portland's Pearl District. The entrance to the station is at the end of 6th St. north of Irving St.
Portland ranks as the 19th busiest Amtrak station handling over 530,000 passengers a year. The station has three tracks handling Amtrak trains. Three Amtrak lines depart from Portland:
- Amtrak Cascades north to Vancouver BC and south to Eugene, OR
Coast Starlight north to Seattle, WA and south to Los Angeles, CA
The station is open from 7:15 am to 9:15 pm daily. Both the ticket windows and the Quik-Trak machines are open anytime the station is open. Checked baggage service is available from 7:45 am to 8:30 pm.

Portland Union Station Arrivals
Arrivals into Portland Union Station can be checked at the Amtrak web site: www.amtrak.com. Please complete the "Train Status" box and click on "Next" to get the estimated and scheduled arrival times. You can also check historical on-time performance on the same page. Portland Union Station Departures

Portland Union Station Taxis
Taxis are available at the main entrance on NW 6th Avenue. Taxis may carry up to 9 passengers with metered rates. It costs about $30 to Portland International Airport and there is a $1.50 surcharge for taxis leaving PDX. Portland Union Station Buses and Streetcars
Portland Union Station is located on the north end of the Portland Transit Mall that runs along NW 5th and 6th Avenues in downtown Portland. There are numerous bus stops on the Mall and on nearby streets such as Broadway and Gilsan. Four to five blocks west of Portland Union Station on NW 10th and 11th Avenues is the streetcar service that run just beyond downtown. Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation (TriMet) provides these services. The good news is that all TriMet services including buses and streetcars are free within the downtown area and across the Willamette River to the Convention Center! Portland Union Station Local Trains
The good news is that Union Station has a stop on the MAX Yellow and Green Lines that are part of the TriMet rail system. These Max trains serve suburbs in mainly east and west of the city. But the Green line goes down as far as Clackamas and the Red line serves Portland International Airport. Also, you can transfer to the Blue or Red line to connect to the Westside Express Service commuter rail from Beaverton to Wilsonville during rush hours. Portland Union Station Parking
There are two parking facilities close to the train station. For short-term parking, use the parking lot just west of the train station. For long-term and overnight parking the SmartPark at Station Place two blocks away from the train station on the corner of NW Station Way and NW Marshall Street is the most convenient. Portland Union Station General Information

Conceived by the architectural firm of Van Brunt & Howe, Portland Union Station was built by the Northern Pacific Railway and opened to passenger service in 1896. It is the oldest major passenger train station in the west. The building was constructed with brick, stucco and sandstone. The 150 foot tower includes a Seth Thomas clock that still runs today.
