USA Rail Pass Program

The USA Rail Pass gives coast-to-coast rail travel at one low price to any traveller from any country.    For the low price of $389, you can travel for 15 days on no more than eight segments on Amtrak and its connecting services.  30 day/12 segment passes cost $579 and 45 day/18 segment passes cost $749.  Children 2 to 12 travel for half-price and those under two travel free.  A segment takes place any time you get on and then get off a vehicle (train, bus, ferry or other allowable leg) regardless of length.  You must make advanced reservations for travel in addition to holding the pass.  The pass cannot be canceled if it has been used for travel.  The rail pass is for travel in regular Coach Class seats.   Business Class or Sleeping Accommodations require additional fees.  You are restricted to four one-way journeys over a given route segment.  The USA Rail Pass is not valid on the Auto Train, Acela Express, Thurway motorcoach connections or the Canadian portion of trains operated jointly by Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada.  Rail passes are not transferable.
